Matthew McConaughey, one of the most famous actors and producers in the industry today, has recently made headlines for a different role: mentor to his 16 year old son. Matthew’s son, Levi, is working on the set of his first movie, Way of the Warrior Kid. This experience has naturally brought on some nerves for the young actor, which led to dad taking on the role of mentor for the teenager.
McConaughey was seen reassuring Levi shortly before a pull-up scene. While experiencing some nerves, who better to turn to than your father who just so happens to be an Oscar winner! McConaughey tapped Levi on the shoulder multiple times for a confidence boost, and Levi set off for his scene.
Matthew was then seen making his way back to the video village. Other than being a father to one of the actors, McConaughey is not involved in the movie.
Way of the Warrior Kid
The Way of the Warrior Kid is an adaptation of Jocko Willink’s book in September. Levi was casted for a supporting role opposite of some serious star power. The movie includes Chris Pratt, Linda Cardellini, Jude Hill, and Ava Torres.
The film follows Marc (Jude Hill), a self-doubting boy, who gets bullied and is tasked to complete a pull-up. Marc’s mother is played by Cardellini as “Sarah”. Marc’s uncle, played by Jake Pratt, is an elite Navy SEAL. Marc is forced to live with his sister for rehab after getting hurt on a mission. The uncle uses his SEAL training to help his nephew who struggles in school and personal life.
Matthew’s Family
In addition to Levi, Matthew and Brazilian model Camila, share a daughter Vida and son Livingston. The family is relatively in the public eye, albeit away from social media. They recently hit the red carpet at fundraising gala for their nonprofit organization: Mack, Jack & McConaughey.
Levi, the eldest child, is considered an influencer with 300,000 followers after just one year on Instagram. Levi was actually gifted the account as a birthday present at 15, both parents are opposed to social media for their children. The couple have admitted they were discussing when they would allow him to get a social media account since he was 12 years old.
