Patrick J. Adams, one of the stars on the hit television series “Suits” recently shared his experience meeting Meghan Markle. While having a conversation on his podcast, Sidebar: A Suits Watch, he discussed the first meeting of Mike Ross and Rachel Zane. Patrick co-hosts this podcast with Sarah Rafferty, also known as the infamous Donna from the show.
While the onscreen chemistry between Mike and Rachel became a foundation for the series, their connection was far from instant. Check out this quote from Patrick on his podcast:
Meghan and I had done a pilot before, a terrible, terrible pilot together. There was a setting up of a romantic relationship in the pilot of that particular pilot too. And then we never saw each other again. The pilot failed. It was terrible and went away. And so we had never seen each other nor spoken to each other again.”

For the casting of Suits, Adams was first in this legal drama, and had to participate in chemistry reads for the role of Rachel Zane. Despite their initial meeting going poorly, Patrick was excited with the opportunity to work with Meghan as Rachel. Patrick continued on the podcast discussing his excitement:
“It was pretty clear, if I remember correctly, that she was going to get the part from the minute we did the chemistry read. I think our just knowing each other and just getting to calm down and not have those nerves of just getting to know one another, really helped that chemistry read,” and added, “And it was just clear that we had an easygoing thing when we went into that room.”
As the star of the show Mike sparked a love interest with Rachel relatively quickly in the show. The costars would be in virtually every episode with one another. Mike finds himself working as an unlicensed lawyer for one of New York City’s biggest law firms running from a drug deal gone bad.
The pair was involved in the series all the way up to season 7, where they were written off at the end of the season. The pair was written off with their marriage and a move to Seattle. Patrick would return to the final season 9 for three episodes.
Meghan, however, would not return to the final season – mostly due to the fact that she is busy with the Royal Family. Markle married Prince Harry on May 19, 2018, which prohibited her from starring in the show moving forward.
Aaron Korsh, Suits creator, has stated he was interest in getting everyone back together for a reunion meeting. However, he acknowledges just how difficult this could be moving forward.
