Yet another Hollywood Hills mansion was taken over by squatters, and has become quite the site for residents throughout the neighborhood.
The home, located on the corner of Multiview and Mulholland, has been vacant for several years. It is currently owned by John Powers Middleton, film producer and son of Philadelphia Phillies owner John S. Middleton.
Those living in the neighborhood have noticed the issues of vandalism and have complained repeatedly about a safety hazard.
One anonymous neighbor commented to ABC 7 News about the situation:
Every time we call, the police will come, and they’ll clear it out. And then, within an hour or two, five more people are there and staying the night.
“Apparently, some squatters came and actually attacked one of the neighbors with steel rebar and a beer bottle,” the neighbor said.
The L.A. City Councilwoman Nithya Raman has been working closely with the Los Angeles Police Department in order to address the ongoing issues.
The house owned by John has been under legal issues for quite some time now.
The Building and Safety records shows a notice issued for overgrown or excessive vegetation in 2014. An additional eight notices of an abandoned or vacant building have been issued since August 2022.
A spokesperson for the Philadelphia Phillies made a comment to Fox News Digital in order to confirm they are owned by John.
“The California properties are owned by John Powers Middleton. No other members of the Middleton family have ownership, investment, control or involvement in these properties,” the spokesperson said.
Public records indicates John purchased the house in 2012, and was later declared a nuisance in October 2022.
The LA Department of Building and Safety stated Middleton must build a fence and secure the property – which Middleton refused to do so.
Unfortunately for those living in these Hollywood Hills Mansion, this house issue has been ongoing. Currently, city workers are placing fencing in front of the home and some exterior graffiti has been removed.
