First Superhero to Receive Hollywood Walk of Fame Star

Batman, arguably the most iconic superhero in the past century, will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

This occasion will be the 2,790th star to be added to the most iconic sidewalk in the world. The ceremony will be taking place today, September 26th, 2024, at 11:00 AM PT in front of the Guinness World Records Museum on Hollywood Boulevard.

This moment is even more momentous as Batman will be awarded the Guinness World Records title for being the first superhero to be honored with the star.

The iconic superhero was created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger. Batman first appeared in Detective Comics #27 in March 1939. Since his creation, Batman has been a symbol of justice, courage, and resilience for the wide audience.

Hollywood Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez prepared a statement for The Independent:

“Fans from around the world will be thrilled to know that Batman will have his star dedicated next to the stars of television’s Batman, Adam West, and the co-creator of Batman, Bob Kane.”

While Batman is the first superhero to be added to the Walk of Fame, he is the 20th fictional character to earn this honor. He joins elite fictional characters like Bugs Bunny, Godzilla, and Mickey Mouse.

Batman Through the Ages

Batman went through several adaptations which contributed to his legendary status. The first Batman was played by Lewis Wilson in 1943, and continued to be played through famous actors like Michael Keaton, Christian Bale, Ben Affleck, and Robert Pattinson.

Today’s Ceremony

The ceremony will be attended by several notable attendees. This includes DC president Jim Lee and senior vice president Anne DePies. This recognition will surely spark future superheroes to follow in Batman’s footsteps for a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star.
